Burning Ethanol

Matter and Energy Lab
​In this lab we are going to use indicators to tell us about how matter is moving and changing. You will need to know how these indicators work. 
Mass is a measure of atoms/matter. When the mass changes it means matter has moved. 

BTB is a pH indicator that tells us if the amount of CO2 has changed. Blue indicates that there is less CO2 and yellow indicates that there is more CO2. 

Cobalt chloride is an indicator for water. If the amount of water has not changed then the cobalt chloride stays blue, but if there is an increase in the amount of water in the air then the cobalt chloride will turn pink.
